Happy and Caring Environment<\/p>\n

At Wychwood it is important to us that our pupils reach their potential in a happy and caring environment. The advantage of our small class sizes is that staff are very good at identifying any barriers that may prevent this and impact on both their academic performance and their self-esteem. There is no \u2018one size fits all\u2019 approach to support \u2013 each pupil is different and so should be their support.  <\/p>\n

Our starting point is always to find out as much as we can about each pupil. Whether it is by visiting a pupil in their current setting or through conversations with their class teachers, SENDCo or others involved in their education and care. Each pupil is firmly at the centre of what we do, and it is about finding the right \u2018fit\u2019. <\/p>\n

A pupil identified as facing challenges to their learning will have their own Individual Education Plan (IEP). They are included in its development and review.  By having small classes, much of the support needed happens within the classroom. Where additional interventions are required our small team of specialist staff work closely with pastoral and subject staff to deliver targeted 1:1 support that is appropriate to individual needs. Where help is needed from outside organisations and we work to accommodate this. Open communication is important and by having a full-time SENDCo we encourage parents, carers and students to work with us. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Where access arrangements are needed for public examinations, we have a qualified in-house assessor and close links with a diagnostic assessor. By the time that a pupil sits their examinations, we are confident that we have the best arrangements in place for them to achieve. Our aim is to support our pupils from day one. The support they have will evolve over time and we hope that they leave as confident individuals with strategies to succeed in whatever direction they take.  <\/p>\n
