Overview

Wychwood has a sound set of long-standing traditions that have evolved from our extensive history, but we are a forward-looking school with a mission to provide academic excellence through creativity of thought delivered through 4 core pillars:

We offer a wide range of activities and clubs to enhance these four pillars and our creative academic curriculum. The extra-curricular activities can be enjoyed during the lunch break or after school and they provide each pupil with the opportunity to extend their learning and enjoy challenges in different ways outside the classroom. This gives everyone the chance to try a new skill, pursue a passion or contribute to the community through perhaps the charity work.

Every child can truly be themselves and valued for who and what they are.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

Sport

The school has several core sports – hockey in the Michaelmas term, netball in the Hilary term and both tennis and athletics in the Trinity term. In addition, we also offer rowing as a curriculum sport, in partnership with Hinksey Sculling School and more recently Rugby 7s in partnership with Oxford Harlequins RFC.

Drama

The school’s drama programme is supported with links to The Oxford School of Drama and we also offer LAMDA.

Music

Over 50% of our pupils learn or play a musical instrument across both classical and modern genres, either within the school or as part of the rich cultural scene of Oxford. There are several ensembles and choirs to take part in.
